Who is Justin Bieber?

Justin Bieber is a young musician from Canada. His success story began through YouTube, where he was discovered by Scooter Braun, an American Talent Manager. This lead to a record deal with Usher Raymond. Internet sensation Justin Bieber turned his life around, from an ordinary childhood to platinum albums, several awards and an extraordinary fan-base of over 42 million twitter followers. At the age of only 18 years old, he was named the third most powerful celebrity by Forbes magazine.


Timeline:


1994 Born in Stratford, Ontario. Bieber was only child brought up by his single mother after his parents separated. Mum, Patricia 'Pattie' Mallette, released an autobiography, Nowhere but Up , about her struggles of raising her son at only 17 years old.


1996 - Justin began playing drums at the age of 2. He also taught himself to play guitar, piano and trumpet.


2006 - Busking for money in order to support family.


2007 - After placing second in a Stratford singing competition, Mum, Pattie posted a video of Justin singing "So Sick" by Ne-Yo on YouTube in order to share with friends and family. As the views increased and popularity escalated, Pattie began posting more of Justin's covers of various R&B songs.


2008 - Scooter Braun, manager of Bieber, came across one of these YouTube videos and decided to contact the family. Although at first Pattie refused, at the age of 13, Justin flew to Atlanta and was soon signed to Raymond Braun Media Group after singing for Usher Raymond. Justin Timberlake was also interested in signing Justin. In October, Justin was also signed to The Island Def Jam Music Group, owned by L.A Reid. This produced a joint venture between Usher and L.A Reid.


2009 - Debut single 'One Time' was released while still
recording Justin's debut album. The single was not as successful until later on in the year, where it spread to international markets and went Gold and Platinum. Album 'My World' was also released that year and became certified Platinum in the US and Double Platinum in Canada and the UK. Promotion of the album included Bieber performing on popular shows such as The Today Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America and many more. This year also consisted of Justin performing in the White House for President Obama and The First Lady.


2010 - Extended play of My World was released as 'My World 2.0 '. The album debuted Number 1 on the Billboard 200, making Bieber the youngest male solo artist to top the chart. It also reached number one in four other countries and top ten in fifteen other countries. My World Tour was Justin's first headlining tour. In July, Justin Bieber reportedly became the most searched for celebrity on the internet and 'Baby', a single from My World, became the most viewed video on YouTube. Later on this year, Justin proved to also be a successful actor after appearing in CSI. Justin's haircut was named 'the most expensive musical haircut of all time' after his change of hairstyle lead to one company spending $100,000 to change their dolls.


2011 - 3D documentary movie about Justin's life and success

was released entitled "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" . It topped box office with an estimated gross of $12.4 million on it's opening day from 3,105 theatres. It grossed $30.3 million the following weekend and reached a total of $98,441,954 worldwide. In June, Justin was ranked number two on the Forbes list of Best Paid Celebrities under 30 after earning $53 million in a 12 month period. Christmas Album 'Under the Mistletoe ' was released as Justin's second studio album and debuted number one on Billboard 200.


2012 - Justin revealed his first single from the next album 'Believe'. He announced that the single would be called 'Boyfriend' on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Third studio album 'Believe' was released in June by Island Records. This album showed a maturer tone development and sold 57,000 in the first week in Canada.


2013 - Acoustic version of Believe was released in January entitled 'Believe Acoustic '. The follow up to the movie 'Never Say Never' is expected in late 2013 about his Believe Tour.
